Sabalenka admits preference for men's tennis ahead of Madrid Open title defense

Aryna Sabalenka will compete this week at the Madrid Open winning her title last year and will defend it this time around. But in terms of watching any matches as preparation, she admitted that she doesn’t watch her rivals for a reason.
That reason being that she prefers to watch men’s tennis over women’s tennis saying that her team sometimes make her watch matches but that if it was up to her, she wouldn’t bother. She called men’s tennis more interesting to watch in a bold admission on the side of the sport she inhabits.
In Madrid, she faces either Elisabetta Cocciaretto or last week's Rouen runner-up Magda Linette. Danielle Collins could await in the fourth round if both players get that far in the Spanish city. The American hasn’t played since her sensational double last month.
“I don't watch their matches… I feel like I've played against them enough and that, if I face one of them again, my coach is going to show me images of their matches to analyze and prepare me. I'm not someone who watches too much tennis, I prefer to watch men's tennis rather than women's tennis, I feel like there is more strategy and it's more interesting to watch (laughs),” said Sabalenka.
